Let’s go back to the summer of 2016…You just finished writing your final exams, your papers weren’t that great but you couldn’t care less because holidays have begun and you need to start shopping for your 10-day vacation. You have your entire summer planned out and you made sure these were the best 2 months of the year. Planning your vacations were the most fun back then. All you had to do is tell your parents your time-table and choose where you wanted to go.

Little did we know that as we grew up, planning a vacation would mean checking your budget, work-load, your schedule, matching it with that of your friends’, oh and your mood swings. Not all of these things can always be controlled but I did come up with a few travel tips on how to take a few successful breaks while you continue to hustle in your 20’s.

1. Staycation: Living in a five-star hotel in your own city just to get those vacation feels? Yes. After the onset of the pandemic this counts as a vacation too. It’s budget friendly, extremely convenient, not very time consuming and you get to enjoy all the premium amenities and services. You can go solo - have continental breakfast in bed, take a long bubble bath, work during the day and chill at the lounge by night. Just a change in atmosphere can give you a much needed break.

2. Work from Goa: or literally anywhere else in the world. Go take that Goa trip you’ve always wanted. All you have to do is plan your schedule in a way that lets you enjoy while working. It could be a family trip that you’ve been avoiding for a while or you could go with your work friends! You’ll find plenty of ideal destinations for your workation on the internet that are budget friendly and yet the most happening.

3. One day trips: A hundred percent tried and tested, the most convenient of all and it doesn’t involve too much planning. Pick a Sunday and take a road trip to Lonavala or a hill-station or to the outskirts of the city with your friends. The two-hour drive with you jamming to music, catching up with each other, taking the wrong route to the destination and laughing about it is surely the getaway you’ll need from your mundane life and set you up for the rest of the week. Rent a villa together or explore a new site where you can see the most beautiful sunsets. If you leave early enough in the morning and spend the entire day out, you might just feel like you took a whole weekend off!

4. Solo trip: Gone are the days when you and your friends were in the same class, had the same time-tables and could plan all your holidays together. Now everyone has chosen different paths and have their own prior commitments, so it could take a while before your busy schedule aligns for that crazy Bali trip you'll have been planning for. Don’t wait for it. Go solo. Taking a trip all by yourself or maybe with a travel group where you can go camping with a bunch of new people is a wholesome experience and should definitely be on your bucket list.

Your 20’s are going to be exhausting, so keep these tips handy and remember to take a break from your routine life once in a while.
